Winnebago Landfill Company currently offers two convenient transfer station facilities for your waste disposal needs: the Princeton Transfer Station and the Freeport Transfer Station.
Transfer stations are relatively new to the waste business and have been increasingly utilized as landfills have become more regional in nature. They are generally located in areas where there are no landfills in close enough proximity to the communities they serve.
Because it is not economically feasible to haul waste in traditional garbage trucks to landfills — due to distance, fuel charges, and the need for additional refuse vehicles — transfer stations provide an affordable solution for waste disposal needs. They are an economical and convenient alternative for short haul distances; transfer station vehicles are capable of transporting much larger quantities of trash than traditional collection vehicles to regional landfills such as the Winnebago Landfill and the Rochelle Landfill.
