WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?
We operate Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, generally from the first week of April through the first week of December, excluding major holidays. We are also open the second Saturday of the month 7:30 am to 10:00 am.
WHERE IS YOUR FACILITY LOCATED?
We are located at 6200 Baxter Road in Cherry Valley, Illinois, just five miles south of Rockford and just east of Mulford Road. Click here for a map of our location.
WHAT IS YOUR COMPOSTING COST?
For up to 400 pounds, there is a $10 minimum charge.
WHAT METHOD OF PAYMENT IS ACCEPTED?
You may pay by cash or check only. We do not accept credit cards.
WHAT IS – AND IS NOT – ACCEPTED AT THE COMPOST FACILITY?
We only accept yard waste and landscape waste in approved landscape waste bags – no plastic bagged material, no material larger than six inches in diameter and longer than three feet in length, no rocks, fencing, no manufactured wood products. Also no sod or dirt accepted.
WHERE CAN WE TAKE PAINTS, OILS, LIQUIDS AND TIRES?
You can take them to the household hazardous waste site at 3333 Kishwaukee Street in Rockford. They are open weekends – Saturday 8 am to 4 pm, Sunday 12 pm to 4 pm, with the exception of holidays.
