PRINCETON TRANSFER STATION

The growth along the I-80/Illinois River corridor precipitated the need for a convenient transfer station. In 2003, Illinois Valley Waste Systems, a division of William Charles, Ltd., negotiated with the City of Princeton for the privitalization of the city-owned and operated transfer station.
Illinois Valley redesigned the facility and modernized it for increased efficiency. As a result, although the original agreement had a two-year term, at the beginning of the second year, a 10-year agreement was signed between the City and Illinois Valley Waste.
It is interesting to note that Illinois Valley Waste Services was the first in the area to pioneer single stream residential recycling collecting, and is totally committed to “green” services.
